Students

Information for

Students

We believe that students need a platform to express themselves as writers. We believe that this platform can be recognised in schools, as well as one that connects you to your peer group in a meaningful nationwide experience. The IWA provides the connection.

The competition is open to any Year 5  – 8 student. The Essay Starter is chosen to spark interest, debate and involvement.

We believe writing is a powerful connector, a powerful art and a powerful voice.

First prize winner receives $750 for themselves as well as recognition with the IWA for you, your school and your teacher. You will also receive the honour of the inaugural student trophy for a year, and your school will receive the honour of the inaugural school’s trophy for the year. Your participation and/or success is noteworthy in academic and future careers.

The IWA Process for

Students
